Grants to USA nonprofits in multiple States for preserving, restoring, and protecting the natural environment, as well as strengthening the social fabric and physical landscape of local communities. Applicants must submit an LOI prior to submitting a full proposal. Priority is given to nonprofits in Alabama, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Kentucky, Maine, Massachusetts, Mississippi, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vermont, Virginia, and West Virginia.
The Foundation specifically focuses its funding on the following three programs areas:
Conserving Ecologically Valuable Land: The geographic focus of this area will be the southeastern United States, with priority given to the Southern Appalachians and the states of Tennessee, North Carolina, Kentucky, South Carolina, Georgia, and Virginia.
Reducing CO2 Emissions Through Energy Efficiency and Carbon Pricing: The Fund’s strategy is to support efficiency policies and implementation efforts in the Northeast and Southeast. In the long run, it is still essential that a price be paid for carbon emissions. The Fund will therefore support the development of political and economic drivers at the state and federal level to establish or expand carbon pricing mechanisms.
Urban Farming and Youth Leadership: The Fund will support programs in low-income urban areas that are harnessing the power of young people to create urban farms and local markets. Projects must reside in Massachusetts, New York City, and Philadelphia.
